The Three types of Complete Dentures
Christopher L.

Dentures are whole or partial sets of teeth manufactured from acrylic resin, a type of plastic. There are porcelain denture solutions, but they are frequently more expensive and prone to accidental cracks and chips. Dentures resemble and operate like natural teeth because they replace natural teeth. Dentures can restore some of your eating functions while also making your smile more complete.

Full dentures are classified into three types: immediate, conventional, and implant-supported overdentures . Depending on your situation and needs, you may begin with one type of complete denture and then transition to another.

Immediate Full Dentures: This type of denture is normally only worn temporarily until the time comes to transition to traditional complete dentures. Following tooth extraction, immediate full dentures are frequently employed. Because the gums require time to recover after extraction , conventional complete dentures cannot be fitted right away. Immediate full dentures restore your smile while your gums heal, and you wait to be fitted for traditional full dentures.

Conventional Full Dentures: These dentures are intended to be worn permanently. Conventional complete dentures are built to order for each patient and gradually adjusted to your mouth for a perfect fit. Conventional complete dentures look like your natural teeth and can execute regular biting and chewing tasks with ease, once they are in place.

Implant-Supported Overdentures : Like traditional full dentures, this form of denture is intended to be worn long-term. Several dental implants , which are inserted directly into the jawbone, are utilized to attach the dentures. Dental implants give a level of solidity and support to the dentures. Instead of resting on your gums like traditional dentures, it is attached to titanium implants put in your jaw. When compared to conventional dentures, this improves stability and chewing function.

There are many benefits to wearing dentures:

  • Dentures restore your smile and remove any social awkwardness caused by gaps in your teeth.
  • If you have any remaining teeth, partial dentures prevent excessive wear and tear on your natural teeth by uniformly distributing chewing forces over all teeth.
  • Dentures are a low-cost solution for replacing lost teeth.
  • Dentures help people speak and pronounce words more clearly.
  • Your facial muscles will begin to sag if you do not have teeth. Dentures restore the facial support that your natural teeth formerly provided, allowing you to maintain your facial appearance and avoid looking older.
  • You can eat all the meals you used to eat before you lost your teeth with dentures. You are not limited in what you can eat.
  • Dentures are available in porcelain or plastic materials that mimic the appearance of natural teeth. You no longer have to be concerned about your teeth appearing fake.

The best denture styles are unique to each individual and are determined by your present oral health . Your dentist can help you better understand your present conditions and which quality dentures are ideal for you. The various forms of full dentures can help you regain your smile while also supporting drooping facial muscles, restoring speech, and allowing.

normal biting and chewing processes to resume. To find out which type of full denture is best for you, call 24/7 Local Dentist Group at (833) 220-2448 to make an appointment.
